QuetzalCo-op - Cafetzin

The QuetzalCo-op Project was launched in 1996 in response to the call of our Maya relatives in Chiapas, Mexico to support the economic sustainability of Indigenous coffee farmer cooperatives based in Chiapas, Mexico. Since the founding 20 plus years ago the project has expanded to different regions of Mexico and Guatemala. QuetzalCo-op purchases the green coffee product from Indigenous Coffee Cooperatives at above market value offering just trade prices and building economic and trade alliances from community to community, family to family.

100% Organic Coffee Beans

Our project works solely with Indigenous coffee farmer cooperatives, and other product lines of artesanias (indigenous handicrafts). The coffee is imported green and roasted on site at the Nahuacalli by our own cooperative members on an as needed basis and sold to the general public via the TONATIERRA website, and local buyers. All profits from coffee sales goes right back into the project to continue the build the cycle of support for the international economic networking of cooperatives of Indigenous Peoples, north and south Abya Yala [Americas].
